| ...yeah? you prefer hard labour and b-ball rather than the specific explosive strength and power training i know benson does? (combined with the game specific stuff he practices that is most likely in all i've seen by far the most comprehensive anyone could possibly attempt?)
well ok, you're the sports scientist i guess...? ...you bang that hammer buddy.
undercutting the handle is fine BUT doing the dorsal thing and lifting the handle is TERRIBLE. it causes problems as soon as you invert your stick and use it upside down, increases the size of the gate above your thumb that the puck can slip through and reduces effectiveness of a pass with the inverted stick.
having your glove protrude further under the stick won't affect speed, it'll just decrease your general contact with the puck a tiny bit and possibly change the angle you have to hold the bevel at to flick in order to still pick the puck onto the bevel properly.
friction is a factor, for example silicone gloves are a tad faster than latex gloves, enough to require adjustment for flicking etc... but the difference is very slight, and when you're trying to execute something, a dummy for instance, FAST, it's probably more important to put some pressure against the bottom to hold the stick on the tiles in the proper position to control the puck than to try to limit downwards pressure thinking it will make the movement faster.
having said that, i try to put silicone on the fingers of my gloves for a bit of extra speed, so i should say i guess i think the difference is enough to acknowledge.
