Injury Mangement

Just thought I'd post this more than obvious advice for general interest

If you are injured or have been injured there are certain steps to take & people to help.
Let's start at the injury.

1. Bang! you're hurt.
2. Get out of the water - don't play on thinking you're Superman or woman.
3. Stabilise the injury.
4. Seek medical attention.

Ok so now you're post injury...

1. Seek out a Doctor that can help you (maybe a Sports Doctor)
2. Follow their advice (obvious but often not done)
3. Undergo the prescribed treatment (eg, rest, plaster cast, surgery etc)
4. Enlist a physiotherapist to aid your rehabilitation
5. Follow their advice (again not often done well)

Ok, now you're 'fixed'. Post recovery...

1. determine how & why the injury occured (eg, accident, poor technique, physical weakness, stupidity)
2. Besides the first reason (accident) the rest can be addressed by training. You must honestly recognise the problem before you can address it. (So if
you've got a flick technique problem recognise it before it hurts you again)
3. Enlist speciality help in correcting the problem (eg, a coach for swim technique, a weight trainer for strength problems etc)
4. Follow their advice (as above)

Now live pain free & a better player to boot
